Our hammocks come in a number of styles. They are mainly Brazilian style hammocks, and we have some Columbian hammocks, and some Mexican Hammocks too. All our hammocks are very high quality and will last you for many years. They are tested to the stringent German TUV safety standards.

La Siesta hammocks exclusively use dyes by renowned brands (Ciba, Dystar), which, of course, comply with European regulations and standards. Thanks to the constant optimization of the dyeing mix and the dyeing process we have managed to obtain values for light- and wash-fastness of 4-5 for all our cotton products and of 5-6 for all HamacTex® products..

La Siesta hammocks are characterised by tight and solid fabrics. This is achieved by high densities of warp and weft threads. Moreover, to reinforce the weak spot of the fabric at the selvage , we double the warp threads.

HamacTex® is a synthetic fibre specially developed to satisfy the multiple requirements of a hammock. HamacTex® is weather resistant and easy to maintain. Nevertheless HamacTex® has the look and feel of cotton.

The design secret of hammocks and hammock chairs lies in the even distribution of the weight to all its suspension cords. Traditional makes master this to perfection: They use the warp thread of the fabric to connect the cloth artfully with the suspension.

In Brazil the warp threads are traditionally knotted into a macramé net.

In Colombia the warp threads are twisted into plaits. La Siesta encourages these traditional productions.

Children in hammock chairs love turning themselves around . Without the swivel, this could be dangerous as it twists the suspension. The ensuing shear stress could lever the chair out of its anchoring or lead to torn ropes. The integrated La Siesta swivel prevents this and gives playing children more safety.

The suspensions of the Colombian hammocks end in open loops. This is why that kind of hammock can open especially wide for its diagonally lying occupant. To add an extra bit of strength to the suspensions, we have them made from a 50/50 mixture of cotton and polyester.

Only after passing several static and dynamic endurance-tests will our La Siesta hammock receive the safety standards certificate of the German TÜV Rheinland. Our products must, for example, withstand a load of 2,5 times the stipulated carrying capacity. The TÜV certificate commits us to test 1 % of our current production.

La Siesta hammocks fulfil highest quality standards. To be able to guarantee these standards, all our products have to undergo systematic controls. All data thus obtained are used together with data from our customer complaint service for the persistent improvement of our hammocks.
